I work in healthcare, and I was exposed to COVID. What do I do?

So, you work in the healthcare field and were exposed to someone with COVID (within 6 feet of a person with confirmed infection) or you have been infected (tested positive for SARS-CoV-2). Conventional Status

  • Exposed: If you have been exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID and are not showing symptoms, there are no work restrictions for those who are boosted. If you are not boosted, a 10-day quarantine or 7-day quarantine with a negative test is required.
  • Infected: Regardless of vaccination status, quarantine for 10 days or 7 days with a negative test

Contingency Status

  • Exposed: If your facility is in contingency, those who are boosted have no work restrictions. Those who have not been boosted may work but must test each day.
  • Infected: Regardless of vaccination status, 5 day quarantine with/without negative test

Crisis Status

  • Exposed: In crisis status, the facility does not restrict any workers exposed to COVID. If possible, test those who are not yet boosted.
  • Infected: No work restrictions, but consider prioritizing those who are asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic

Regardless of the status of your facility, anyone who has been exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID-19 must

  • Continue self-monitor for symptoms and seek occupational health if symptoms appear.
  • Continue to wear proper PPE around infected individuals, including a respirator if available, a facemask if not, eye protection, gown, and gloves
