What's the deal with working in Big Sky?

As the crow flies, it is only 32 miles from Bozeman to Big Sky, but that doesn't mean that getting there is as easy as hopping in your car and heading off only to arrive 30 minutes later. The scenic drive down US-191 S is a beautiful winding route through the mountains that will take you about an hour in the best of conditions. But don't let that deter you from considering shifts in Big Sky. There is one BIG reason to consider these jobs...hear us out! 

Our gigs in Big Sky typically pay 15-20% more than a gig in the valley, mostly to make up for the distance required to get there from Bozeman. We want you to be able to take full advantage of these increased rates, and it isn't as hard to do as you might think. Most jobs are over $30/hour. Here are some ideas we know you'll love:

Go Camping! 

Make some money and soak up the beautiful outdoors at the same time! If you find a job that interests you in Big Sky, make it a trip! Sign up for multiple days at the same gig and find yourself a place to camp out. We have tons of suggestions (just ask us), but here are a few that come to mind:

• Taylor Fork - Camp beneath the shadow of the Taylor-Hilgard Peaks and fish the crystal-clear water! Crank out lots of hours, make money, and enjoy the great outdoors. 
• Red Cliff - This popular area offers tent camping in the campground. Do some climbing after work and set up a dispersed campsite up the trail leading away from the campground! We know you will be impressed.
• Spire Rock - Nestled in the breathtaking Gallatin Canyon, Spire Rock Campground offers a prime location for outdoor enthusiasts seeking adventure in southwestern Montana. This scenic campground is just 26 miles south of Bozeman. Enjoy outdoor recreational activities such as fishing, rafting, hiking, and wildlife viewing. 
• Greek Creek - Located within the Bozeman Ranger District of the Gallatin National Forest, Greek Creek Campground offers single-family campsites that come equipped with a picnic table and campfire ring. The campground provides vault toilets, drinking water, and trash collection for guests' convenience. 

A great resource to find camping spots is Recreation.gov. 

Other things to note about camping in Big Sky. Be aware:

• The closest RV Dump sites are in Bozeman and West Yellowstone.
• Book your campsite in advance at Recreation.gov.
• Always be bear aware!
• Find other campgrounds in the Gallatin National Forest at FS.USDA.GOV.
• No camping is allowed on Big Sky Resort property - including the free parking lots and overflow lots. Here is their camping policy.

Take the Bus!

Take advantage of the free transportation services offered by Skyline to and from Big Sky. Grab a beverage, plug in your headphones, and enjoy the scenic Gallatin Canyon. This is a perfect option for students who are looking to spend their commute studying!
